High protein breakfasts to kick your day off right

Protein is the key nutrient needed if you’re trying to maintain a balanced lifestyle and lose weight. Protein can satisfy cravings and keep you feeling fuller for longer, which means you’re less likely to reach for sugary snacks. Protein is also key in muscle growth and repair, so you should be planning protein into your diet if you’re attempting to burn fat and lose weight. Below we’ve listed out some great breakfast ideas that are packed full of protein so that you can be sure you’re starting each morning with the right fuel for the day ahead.

Greek yoghurt and berries

Greek yoghurt is a fantastic source of protein and a delicious way to start your day. Be sure to choose plain Greek yoghurt, as pots with additional flavour are often full of sugar. To sweeten this, add fresh berries which are a great source of nutrients and vitamin C.

Banana and oat pancakes

Simply mash up one banana, whisk in one egg and add enough oats to soak up the liquid. Mix everything together and you have your pancake batter ready. Spoon into a pan & fry in coconut oil to keep the dish as healthy as possible. You can then top this with yoghurt and berries or a little honey and seeds!

Ham and Egg muffins

These muffins are packed full of protein and low carb. Simply line a cupcake tray with good quality ham or prosciutto & bake for a minute or two to set the ham in place. Crack an egg into each of the ham lined cupcake holders and bake until the eggs are fully cooked but the yolks still runny.

Scrambled egg and avocado

A favourite of health and fitness gurus the world over, eggs and smashed avocado on toast is not only a delicious breakfast but a fantastic source of early morning protein. Place on top of rye bread or wholemeal toast to ensure your whole meal is full of nutrients to keep you feeling satisfied all morning.
